Mike Young has studied classical dressage with Erik Herbermann. Mr. Herbermann is a renowned horseman who studied for many years under the celebrated instructor, Egon von Neindorff. Mr. Herbermann is also the author of two books on classical equitation, and conducts clinics internationally.
The principles of classical dressage that Mike teaches are useful for riders of any background. Classical dressage focuses on understanding how every little thing a rider does affects the horse. Students will learn to improve their balance and position, and will learn to give clearer "aids" or signals to the horse. Students will also learn to become more confident riders and improve their overall experience with the horse.
In addition to classical dressage, Mike teaches jumping with an emphasis on position and balance. Mike also uses various gymnastic exercises to teach the horse to regulate its stride length and be more balanced through the jumps.
Mike also does horse training for young or spoiled horses. When working with a horse, Mike likes to work with the owner as well so that the owner understands how best to work with their horse and have the greatest level of success.
